According to the latest price report of LEDinside Research Center, in August 2018, the prices of mainstream packaging products in the Chinese market showed different declines.
LED inside analyst Wang Ting said that due to the decline in chip prices in the third quarter and the intensification of market competition, China's mainstream packaging manufacturers have also adjusted product prices. This month, the prices of high-power and medium-power products have generally declined, and the general lighting market has grown. The strength is still weak. Among the mainstream packaging products, the average price of 0.2W and 0.5W 2835 LEDs was lowered by about 8% and 4% respectively; the average price of medium power 3030 LED products dropped by about 3% this month, while the price of LED products of 1W and above 3030 fell by 2%.
In the automotive market, although the LED penetration rate has gradually increased, many international first-tier manufacturers have begun to introduce lower-cost LED packaging products for thermoelectric separation vehicles, resulting in increased price competition for automotive LEDs.
Global light bulb prices have fallen slightly, and the impact of Sino-US trade friction has surfaced
In terms of bulbs, the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing 40W incandescent lamps in August fell slightly by 0.7% to US$6.2; the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing 60W incandescent lamps fell by 0.7% to US$7.3.
From the perspective of major regions around the world, European brand manufacturers have introduced new filament lamps and adopted different market pricing strategies in the UK and Germany.
In the UK, the average price of LED products replacing 40W and 60W incandescent lamps increased by 0.5% and 0.2% respectively in August, and the price of newly listed LED filament lamps was higher than the average market price. In addition, the price of the original filament lamp products has also increased in different degrees.
However, in the German region, the new filament lamps introduced by manufacturers are far below the average market price, and the price of the original products has also dropped significantly. The competition in the filament lamp market has begun to heat up.
In Japan, the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing 40W and 60W incandescent lamps fell by 2.9%. Mainly because of the fierce competition among major brands such as Panasonic, Alice Oyema and Toshiba, they have lowered their prices.
The US region was affected by trade friction and raw material prices rose, resulting in an increase in average product prices. The price of LED bulbs replacing 40W and 60W incandescent lamps rose by 2.7% and 1.3% respectively.
